Myth and modern science: some insights

It is commonly said that philosophy, as the rational thought
advent, replaced the myth on ancient Greek society. As the modern
science (physics, chemistry, math etc) has emerged from philosophy or
at least very close to it, one could expect that we do not have
mythology anymore in our explanation of nature, human being behavior
and so on. But, a close look to our way of thinking in the
construction of theories that will support science and of course
technology developments reveals that myth actually has not gone: we
just banished the old gods and have proposed new ones, according to
our modern way of thinking. Examples mainly from the physics and
chemistry theories used nowadays will be presented to support the
thesis.
